Effect Idea
Have a coin in your hand and a deck of cards in the other. Toss the coin in the air, follow it with your eyes, and when it's supposed to fall on the floor, a card drops instead.
Repeat the same thing for the card, but since the spectator would see the card not flying in the air, this time have the card transform into a coin as you throw it in the air.
This effect can be combined with "cards or coins?" where cards sound like coins and coins sound like cards (credit Mario Lopez).
Sketch Idea
CLOSE UP on the image and FOCUS on the sound of a SPRING, of a RIFFLE, of a couple of coins hitting each other - this is important so the viewer becomes knowledgeable to the sounds that are about to come later in the video.
A magician performs the previously described effect. As the audiences jaws drop in awe, they commence to applaud only to find that their applauding sounds like a bunch of coins hitting each other.
In shock, we hear a few people getting off their chairs and wanting to speak out. What comes out of their mouth are the sounds o cards being riffled.
ZOOM IN on a baby crying and instead of a cry we hear, in an interrupted fashion, cards being riffled.
The hall is covered in panic. Everybody runs towards the exit, but all we can hear is cards and coins hitting each other, getting bent, flipped, dropped and thrown.
The camera turns to reveal the magician waving his hands about as if he is an opera conductor.
Maybe a bit too over the top hahaha, but you get the idea.
The Plot
The concept stays the same, but it doesn't have to be a stage magician. It can be smoething more personal, like a party show, or a street magician.
The most important aspect of this sketch is the why factor: why is this happening? If you cover it up with just "because the magician made it happen" you'll just have what everyone else does.
You can tackle a bee hive mind concept or introduce the idea of we are all one, even with objects.
You can talk about the Carbonaro Effect and what it is and then propose to do something along those lines.
You can introduce a more maleficent plot, where the magician has been filling the air with a gas that makes people more susceptible towards magical occurrences.
Infuse the plot with what information the universe has infused your life and you'll have an unique project.
