Concept: An individual is addicted to holding a deck of cards and performing with it, flourishing with it, until the point of it becoming a dangerous thing to his health.
IN FRONT OF LIQUOR STORE, DAY
ALLY, 35, big mustache, is taking an interview of a homeless person.
"I can't eat like a normal human, I have to eat like an animal, shoving my face in the plate." Ally found this homeless person lying on the street, close to dehydration and starvation. He bought him a meal and a bottle of water. What made Ally go out of his way to help this man was the peculiarity of the homeless person. Every second of every minute his hands kept on performing and performing, with no stop. On a closer look, one could see how bloodshot the hands were and how prominent the veins appeared from constantly being used to perform.
"I tried, believe me, I tried stopping, but if I don't hold a deck of cards I instantly grab any other object that's around and start performing with it. " as he says these words, cards keep falling from his hands. One can only perform for a while until exhaustion takes over, Ally thinks.
"How did this happen?" Ally asks.
"It all started with Cardistry. Then I picked up Magic. And now I'm here."
Ally grimaces at the bluntness of the story. He thought he'd be in for more. The man looks about the park as the homeless keeps eating with his face the food he has been brought, all the while never stopping to perform.
"Look, I don't know how I can help you. Did you try getting some help? Like, from a special ward?"
"I tried, sir, believe me. They tied my hands together and soon I found myself performing with my feet (while saying these, we see flashes of these performances). When they tied my feet as well, I started flourishing with my mouth. I would rip flesh out of my mouth so I would play with something."
"Stop, please." Ally stands up in repulse. Looks at the watch. "I have to go."
"Sir, one last thing."
"What is it?" Close up on the homeless guy. Close up on Erik. A passerby knocks into Ally by mistake. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." then runs away. The sun shines into Ally's eyes. He puts on a pair of glasses. The homeless is nowhere to be seen. Ally looks around, but still nothing.
We see the protagonist leave the park. FILMED FROM BEHIND, we see only from his ass down. As he walks slowly, the spectator can see Ally's left hand fiddling with a deck of cards.
